In short
The FrizzFighter is a finishing attachment used on dry, styled hair. Fit it, choose a low or medium setting, and glide it slowly over the surface of the hair from root to tip so the airflow presses flyaways down into the lengths. Work on small areas at the crown, parting and ends. It is a final polish, not a drying tool.

Shark includes a FrizzFighter finishing tool with several of its dryer and styler bundles, including the SpeedStyle Pro and the Shark Glam, and it is easy to ignore in the box. Used correctly, it gives a smoother, more polished surface to a finished blow-dry without reaching for straighteners. This guide explains what the tool does, which bundles include it, and how to use it for the best result. Check your own manual, as Shark's attachments and instructions vary between models.
What the FrizzFighter does
Flyaways are short or broken hairs that stick up from the surface of a style, plus frizz caused by a raised cuticle. A finishing tool uses a gentle, directed airflow combined with the shape of the attachment to press those hairs down along the lengths, smoothing the outer layer. It works on hair that is already dry and styled.
Dyson has a similar idea with its flyaway attachment for the Supersonic. Shark's version is designed to work with its own dryers' settings. On the SpeedStyle Pro, Shark's listing says attachments auto-adjust heat and airflow, so fitting the FrizzFighter sets the dryer up for finishing.

How to use it, step by step
Slow, steady passes work better than quick strokes. Two or three passes over the same area are usually enough; more adds heat without more smoothing.
- 1
Finish drying and styling your hair first. The FrizzFighter is for dry hair.
- 2
Fit the FrizzFighter firmly onto the dryer.
- 3
Choose a low or medium airflow and heat, or let the dryer auto-adjust if your model does.
- 4
Start at the crown. Hold the tool flat against the surface of the hair, angled down.
- 5
Glide it slowly from root to tip, following the direction the hair falls.
- 6
Repeat on the parting, around the face and over the ends.
- 7
Finish with the cool shot on the same areas to set the smooth surface.
Tips for the best finish
- Work in the direction of the style. For a parting, smooth away from it on each side.
- Keep the tool on the surface. It is for the top layer, not for brushing through the lengths.
- Use it on dry hair only. On damp hair it just dries the surface and frizz returns later.
- Pair it with a light serum. A small amount of smoothing product on the palms helps flyaways stay down.
- Do not overuse. A light polish each day is enough.
Where it fits in a Shark routine
A typical SpeedStyle Pro routine is to rough-dry with the turbo concentrator, smooth sections with the QuickSmooth brush, then finish with the FrizzFighter. With a FlexStyle, you might curl with the Auto-Wrap curlers, then use a finishing tool around the crown and face to tame frizz before shaking out the curls. Our FlexStyle how-to covers the other attachments, and the FlexStyle attachments explainer explains what each head does.
If your bundle does not include the tool, check Shark's site for compatible accessories for your model. Attachments are not interchangeable between every Shark product line.
If frizz keeps coming back
Persistent frizz is usually about moisture and technique. Hair that was not fully dry, airflow pointed upwards during drying, or humid weather all bring it back. Make sure each section is fully dry, point airflow down the hair shaft and use the cool shot. Our guide to straightening hair with a hair dryer covers smooth blow-dry technique.
For more Shark options, see Shark hair stylers compared. If frizz is your main concern, dryers with ionic systems and smoothing nozzles feature in our best hair dryers in the UK guide.
Note:Let attachments cool before removing them, and keep airflow away from the scalp when using any finishing tool near the roots.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the FrizzFighter on wet hair? It is designed as a finishing tool for dry hair. Dry and style first, then use it to smooth the surface.
Does the FrizzFighter work on curly hair? It can tame frizz on the surface of curls, but use it lightly and on low airflow to avoid breaking up curl clumps. A diffuser is better for drying curls.
Is it the same as the Dyson flyaway attachment? It has a similar purpose, smoothing flyaways on dry hair, but it is a different design for Shark dryers. Attachments are not interchangeable between brands.
Can I buy the FrizzFighter separately? Shark sells some accessories separately. Check compatibility with your exact model on Shark's site.
