The Shark SpeedStyle Pro is a compact high-velocity dryer for people who want plenty of attachments in one box. Its distinguishing feature is that heat and airflow auto-adjust to whichever attachment is fitted, so there is less guesswork when switching from a diffuser to a smoothing brush. With five tools, 1,750 W and a 662 g weight, it sits between basic dryers and the premium high-speed models.

In its favour

  • Five attachments, including a diffuser, which the base Supersonic does not include.
  • Scalp Shield mode lowers air temperature for the roots, similar in idea to Dyson's scalp mode.
  • 1,750 W rating is above the Supersonic's 1,600 W, per the specs.

Good to know

  • Motor speed and airflow are not published, so power is hard to compare.
  • At 662 g it is heavier than the Laifen and Elchim alternatives.

Our take

Five attachments and automatic settings

The box contains a Turbo Concentrator, DefrizzFast Diffuser, QuickSmooth Brush, FrizzFighter Finishing Tool and Express Touch-Up Brush, plus a storage bag. Shark says heat and airflow settings change automatically to suit each attachment, and a cool shot locks in a finished style.

That breadth means it can rough-dry, diffuse curls, brush-smooth and tidy flyaways without a separate styler.

Scalp Shield and ionising

Scalp Shield mode drops air temperature to what Shark calls the optimum safe level for scalp comfort and root drying, designed to protect new hair growth from extreme heat. Built-in ionising technology is there to reduce frizz compared with air drying.

The listing does not state motor speed or airflow figures, so you cannot compare raw power directly with high-speed rivals that publish those numbers.

Thick hair and everyday use

At 1,750 W it has more rated power than the Laifen Swift Special at 1,600 W, which helps when drying a lot of hair. The Turbo Concentrator is the useful head for thick hair, directing airflow onto each section. A UK plug and a two-year guarantee on registration (UK and ROI) are listed. Because the settings follow the attachment, there is little reason to memorise speed and heat combinations, which helps anyone sharing the dryer with someone who styles differently. The storage bag keeps all five heads together between uses.

SpeedStyle Pro against Laifen, Elchim and ghd

The Laifen Swift Special is much lighter at a stated 407 g, with a 110,000 RPM brushless motor and three magnetic nozzles. The Elchim Anemos lists 290 g and 1,000 L/min. The ghd Helios has 2,200 W and a contoured nozzle but ships with fewer attachments. The SpeedStyle Pro wins on included tools rather than weight or wattage.

Verdict

Pick the SpeedStyle Pro if you want lots of attachments, a diffuser and a scalp-friendly mode in one compact dryer. If low weight is the priority, the Laifen Swift Special or Elchim Anemos is the better fit, and if raw wattage for very thick hair matters most, the ghd Helios is worth a look.
