This is the curly and coily edition of Dyson's newest Airwrap, the Co-anda2x. Instead of curling barrels it focuses on drying, stretching and defining natural texture, with two combs, a diffuser and two brushes. It suits people with curly or coily hair who want one tool for wash days. The thing that sets it apart is the motor: Dyson says it delivers 2x the air pressure for more power.

In its favour

  • Two combs are included: a detangling comb and a tension comb 2x for stretching.
  • The Wave+Curl diffuser 2x is designed for diffusing curls and coils.
  • Dyson states 2x the air pressure for more power, with better curling and faster drying.

Good to know

  • The listing has few details beyond the parts list and headline claims.
  • It is a multi-styler, so it costs more than a dryer that does the same drying job.

Our take

What comes in this curly and coily box

The parts list is the most useful part of this listing. You get the Fast dryer 2x, the Wave+Curl diffuser 2x, a Tension comb 2x, a Detangling comb, the Round volumising brush 2x, the Anti-snag loop brush 2x and a presentation case. That is a drying and texture kit rather than a curling kit, so there are no Coanda barrels here.

The two combs are what make it relevant for coily hair. A tension comb is designed to stretch hair as it dries, while the detangling comb helps work through wet lengths.

Power and settings

Dyson rates the machine at 1,700 W and lists four heat settings and three speeds. The headline claims are short: better curling, faster drying, straighter styles and no heat damage, with intelligent attachments that remember your settings. The motor is the Dyson Hyperdymium unit.

The page does not give temperature figures, cable length or a hand-held weight beyond the 720 g item weight, and it does not explain how the Wave+Curl diffuser 2x differs from earlier diffusers.

How it compares with the other Dyson options

Against the Dyson Supersonic r Curly+Coily, this Airwrap set adds a second comb and two brushes, but it is a styler body rather than a dedicated dryer. The Supersonic r gives four speeds rather than three. Against the Dyson Airwrap i.d. Curly+Coily, the Co-anda2x has a higher listed wattage of 1,700 W against 1,300 W, while the i.d. includes a conical curling barrel that this set lacks.

If you mainly diffuse and occasionally stretch roots, a dedicated dryer with a comb and diffuser may cover the same ground with fewer parts to store.

Who it does not suit

Anyone wanting barrel curls on straight hair should look at the straight and wavy Co-anda2x set instead. The listing is thin on detail, so buyers who like to compare temperatures and airflow numbers will find little to go on here.

Verdict

Choose this Co-anda2x set if you have curly or coily hair and want Dyson's strongest Airwrap motor with combs, a diffuser and brushes in one case. If you mainly need a dryer with a comb and diffuser, the Dyson Supersonic r Curly+Coily is the simpler buy, and the Airwrap i.d. Curly+Coily adds a curling barrel.
