Dyson says the motor is 30% more powerful than the previous generation with twice the air pressure, providing the power for all-day curls, faster drying and straighter styles. The spec table lists 1,700 W, three speeds and four settings, and a weight of 720 g.

That wattage is higher than the 1,300 W quoted for the Airwrap i.d. and Airwrap Origin.

App, curl sequence and intelligent attachments

The advanced i.d. curl sequence senses movement, wraps hair automatically and adapts heat, airflow and timings to your hair type. Bluetooth connects to the MyDyson app, where six questions about hair type and length create an automated styling sequence. The new intelligent attachments pick their own heat and airflow and remember preferences.

If you do not want an app in your styling routine, much of this premium is less relevant.

Attachments in the box

The included components are a 40 mm Co-anda2x curling barrel, a Conical Co-anda2x curling barrel, the Air Straightener 2x, an Anti-snag loop brush 2x, a Fast dryer 2x, a Large round volumising brush 2x and a PU case. That covers loose waves, tighter curls near the root, straightening, smoothing, volume and drying. Every head carries a 2x or Co-anda2x name, which signals that these are the updated versions designed for the Gen2 motor. Attachments from older Airwraps are not mentioned on this listing, so compatibility in either direction is not confirmed. Storage is handled by the PU case, which keeps the seven pieces together.

How it compares with the Airwrap i.d. and Airwrap Origin

The Airwrap i.d. keeps the app and conical and 40 mm barrels but lacks the Gen2 motor and air straightener, at a stated 600 g. The Airwrap Origin offers three attachments, a single bi-directional 40 mm barrel and no curl sequence, at 610 g. The Co-anda2x is the heaviest of the three but also the most capable.
