This Plum Copper Supersonic Nural is Dyson's sensor-led dryer packaged as a gift set, with the Wave+curl diffuser as its curl-friendly highlight. It is designed for straight and wavy hair, and its point of difference is a network of sensors that measure distance to the scalp, recognise attachments and notice when the dryer is put down. For people who want a dryer that manages heat on its own, that automation is the draw.

Our take
Sensors doing the work
A Time of Flight sensor measures how far the dryer is from your scalp and adjusts temperature to target 55°C at the scalp in Scalp protect mode. Dyson claims a three times stronger scalp barrier with that mode compared with air drying. A Hall sensor identifies each attachment and recalls your preferred settings, and an accelerometer powers pause detect, which turns off the heater and lowers airflow when the dryer is set down.
Activating Scalp protect mode overrides your last-used heat setting, according to the small print, and it works only with the gentle air attachment, styling concentrator and smoothing nozzle.
Heat, airflow and power
There are four heat settings, listed as 100°C, 80°C, 60°C and a constant 28°C cool, plus three airflow settings and a 28°C cold shot. Air Multiplier technology draws in surrounding air to amplify airflow three times, according to Dyson. Rated power is 1,600 W and the weight is listed at 680 g.
Negative ions are included to reduce static.
The Wave+curl diffuser and other attachments
Dyson calls the Wave+curl diffuser a new format that disperses airflow in two ways, aimed at softly diffused waves on straight and wavy hair. The set also includes a gentle air attachment for close-up drying, a styling concentrator with a wider, thinner blade of air, a smoothing nozzle and a flyaway attachment that uses Coanda airflow on dry, straight hair.
Five heads cover most routines from rough-drying to sleek finishes. Tighter curls and coils are better served by Dyson's Curly+Coily editions, which are designed with those textures in mind.
Against the Supersonic r Curly+Coily and Shark SpeedStyle Pro Flex
The Dyson Supersonic r Curly+Coily trades the Nural sensors for a smaller format and adds a wide tooth comb for textured hair. The Shark SpeedStyle Pro Flex folds, includes a DefrizzFast diffuser and auto-adjusts settings per attachment, at 1,700 W. The Nural is the choice for wavy hair when automatic scalp temperature control matters.
Verdict
Choose this Supersonic Nural set if you have straight or wavy hair, want a diffuser for soft waves and value sensors that manage heat for you. Curly or coily hair suits the Dyson Supersonic r Curly+Coily better, and travellers may prefer the folding Shark SpeedStyle Pro Flex.
